A couple of weeks ago I wrote a column about NIMBYs, the “Not In My Backyard” crowd that moves to a home near the train, airport or highway and then complains about the noise.
I received a very thoughtful reply from one reader which I’d like to share, in edited form, to give us all a different perspective on this issue of housing vs. transportation:

Police in Anguilla who have charged Darien resident Gavin Scott Hapgood with manslaughter don’t yet have a motive for the killing of Kevin Mitchel in Hapgood’s hotel room on April 13, but they’ve released some additional details about the case, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday.
The Board of Education on Tuesday hired Alan Addley as the next Darien superintendent of schools.
Addley, a native of Northern Ireland has been superintendent of Granby Public Schools in Granby, Connecticut for 11 years and has held leadership positions in superintendent associations at the state and national level, an has received awards from other education associations honoring him as a superintendent.

While the bill approving the sale of recreational marijuana still has a way to go before being adopted, we should realize that, at some point in the not-too-distant future, recreational marijuana could very likely be available in Connecticut.
Jane Ziegler, a longtime resident of Darien, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Stamford Hospital. She was 94.
Charles E. O’Rourke of Brookline, Massachusetts and formerly of New Canaan, passed away April 17.
