Kids and adults will get a chance to meet firefighters and get up close to their fire trucks and equipment at the Red Engine Event this Sunday, April 28 at Darien Fire Department.

— an announcement from OPUS for Person-to-Person

OPUS for Person-to-Person will host the event as part of its fundraising efforts for the P2P Campership Program, which sends hundreds of underprivileged children to summer day camp, allowing their parents to continue to work through the summer to provide for their families.

All are invited to the firehouse at 848 Post Road in downtown Darien from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Enjoy sweet treats from an ice cream truck and face painting.

A suggested donation of $25 per family will be collected at the door of the event, and to show appreciation for your support, OPUS members will tie a signature red balloon to your mailbox on Balloon Day, Saturday, May 11.

“We are happy to support OPUS for Person-to-Person and Balloon Day by welcoming our community to the Darien Fire Department for this family event. Our mission is to support the people of Darien and helping underprivileged kids is certainly at the top of the list,” said Firefighter Dan Anderson.
