Pete Roux, surrounded by family, died on Sept. 14. Born on Sept. 6, 1943 in Oak Park, Ill., he was raised in Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J. and attended Xavier High School in New York City. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign in 1965, with a degree in modern Chinese politics.
Patricia McKay Hufferd (“Pat”) passed away on Thursday, Sept. 27 at home. Born in San Diego on Aug. 3, 1929, she was the daughter of Mildred (Young) Gnau and John McKay. She grew up in San Diego and Cleveland.
George Victor Zengo of Norwalk, formerly of Darien, passed away peacefully Monday evening, Oct. 1, surrounded by Nancy, his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years, and members of his family. George, an avid fisherman, cook and gardener, was born in Natick, Mass. on Aug. 10, 1934.
Walter Lohotsky of Stamford passed away in peace on Sunday, Sept. 23 at the age of 92. Walt was born in New York City and was raised in Banksville, then the hinterlands of Greenwich, complete with a two-room schoolhouse and plenty of swimming holes. At age 18 he found himself in the Pacific aboard the USS Earl V. Johnson, watched torpedoes pass under his ship, and fondly remembered the conclusion of the war from Leyte Gulf in the Philippines. Upon returning home, he married his beloved Mary and enjoyed a 62-year marriage.
Mary Margaret Mitchell, a long-time resident of Darien, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday morning, Sept. 18. She was 89. Mary was born in New York City on Jan. 19, 1929, the eldest daughter of Mary (Mame) and Daniel Meskill, proud natives of Ireland.
Thomas Clark Moseley Sr., 93, of Woods Hole, MA, a beloved patriarch and scion and a Harvard athlete, passed away on Sept. 16. He was born in Boston as the youngest of five children (and the only child to be born in a hospital). Raised in Dover, MA, he graduated from the Westminster School, Class of 1942, where he was captain of both hockey and baseball teams, as well as Co-MVP football and school prefect. A member of Harvard’s Class of 1946, he was a member of the AD and Hasty Pudding, played football and hockey, and quarterbacked an undefeated JV football team.
Mary Elizabeth “Bobbie” Heidemann died Sept. 10 after a long illness. She was 86. She was born on Jan. 12, 1932 in Stamford, the second of three children to Clarence and Elizabeth Hertz.
Jean G. Cass, formerly of Darien and Fairfield, died on Sept. 7, after a prolonged illness, in Warren, NJ. She was 82. Jean was the daughter of the late Willard and Elizabeth Giddens of Cleveland, Ohio. She was a graduate of St.
Mary Helen O’Brien, 97, died peacefully on Sept. 12, in her residence at Maplewood in Darien. She was born on July 3, 1921, in Moberly, MO, the daughter of John and Margaret Tyrrell. Mary was raised in St. Louis, MO and graduated from Webster College in her home town.
Linda Saverine Santarella, 72, a lifelong resident of Darien, passed away on Sept. 10. She was born Sept. 22, 1945 in Stamford to Joseph and Josephine (D’Arrigo) Saverine. Linda graduated from Darien High School in 1963.
Florence J. Bianco, 91, a lifelong resident of Darien passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 9
She was born in Darien to the late Frank and Catherine Alonzo Bianco. Florence was a graduate of Darien High School, Class of 1946. She was employed by Pitney Bowes for 43 years and enjoyed a long retirement before her recent illness. She is survived by her devoted sisters, Mary DeCarlo and Nancy Dorcey, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Justine Arata Robinson, 94, died peacefully with family and friends, on July 21. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on March 9, 1924, the daughter of Louis and Phyllis (Kerr) Arata, Justine spent her formative years in Old Greenwich. She graduated in 1943 from Harcum Junior College where she majored in interior design. On Sept. 11 of the same year, Justine and Sanford “Sam” Robinson, of Greenwich, Connecticut, were married.
Lois Jean Campbell, wife of Lloyd Campbell and mother of Douglas, Bruce and Vicki Campbell, passed away on Aug. 25, 2018 at Birchview in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Born in 1926 to George and Nellie Thompson, Lois spent her childhood and early years in Concrete, WA. She relocated with her parents to Seattle, where she graduated from Queen Anne High School and attended Pacific Lutheran University. She married Lloyd Campbell, originally from Rockport, WA, in September of 1944, and they moved shortly thereafter to Edmonds, WA, where they co-owned and operated the Skiff Tavern.
John H Chamberlain, 87, of Winnetka, IL passed away peacefully on Sept. 1. John was born to Henry and Mary Jo Chamberlain in Chicago on July 5, 1931. He graduated from Loyola Academy in 1949 and received a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in 1953. Upon graduation from Loyola, John served his country honorably as a first lieutenant in the United States Army.
Edwin Hollis Ferree, 90, passed away on Sept. 1. Ed was born Oct. 17, 1927 in Angleton, TX, the son of Edwin Bennett Ferree and Mabel Etta Huddleston Ferree. He served in the U.S. Air Force in 1946 and 1947.
