Patricia Hufferd, 89, passed away Sept. 27. Her funeral will be on Nov. 3.

Born in San Diego on Aug. 3, 1929, she was the daughter of Mildred (Young) Gnau and John McKay. She grew up in San Diego and Cleveland. She graduated from The Laurel School in 1947 and received her bachelor’s degree from Barnard College in 1951.

Pat was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, William B. “Bill” Hufferd. Her marriage to Bill took her from Cleveland to Rochester, N.Y. and finally to Darien. She was a longtime resident of Darien and Jupiter, Fla.

Pat was a member of the Noroton Yacht Club and Tequesta Country Club where she met and enjoyed the company of many of her close friends. She was an active volunteer at Stamford Hospital and in the Junior League, and was a member of Noroton Presbyterian Church.

Pat also was an avid reader and bridge player. Her main devotion in life was the making of a loving and lovely home life for her family.

Pat is survived by her brother, John McKay (Cindy); her three daughters: Elizabeth Mullen (Brian), Julia Kudenholdt (Stephen) and Constance Zeckendorf; and her five grandchildren: Arthur Zeckendorf, Jennifer Zeckendorf, Amelia Kudenholdt, Claire Grace and Eva Kudenholdt. We cherished our time with Pat and remember her with love.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 3 p.m. at the Noroton Presbyterian Chapel, 2011 Post Road, Darien.
