Some thieves who go into unlocked cars aren’t afraid to branch out and enter a garage when a garage door opener is found in the vehicle, as happened overnight from Friday to Saturday on Holly Lane.

Joseph S. Pereira passed away at home unexpectedly on Nov. 17, 2021, with his loving wife, Barbara, by his side. He was 77.

Days before the Monday groundbreaking ceremony for The Corbin District redevelopment downtown, Baywater Properties on Saturday formally announced the expansion and reallocation of members of its business’ staff as a result of the project.
The Baywater team now includes Kate Perez and Marysa Fiorita, who will directly work on The Corbin Project, as well as Gary Hock will work with some other Baywater properties, allowing Doug Craybas, Baywater’s head of construction, to focus on the construction of The Corbin District.
Darien High School graduate Matthew Gentile will be awarded the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award from the National Eagle Scout Association on Sunday at the Andrew Shaw Memorial Scout Cabin.
Gentile is an engineer with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and is part of the Mars Rover Mission team. He was a scout in Troop 35 Darien when he became an eagle scout in 2010.
Mary Estelle Shelley Evans, 88, died Nov. 2, 2021, at her daughter’s home in Lake Helen, Florida.
A custom mountain bike was reported stolen on Thursday, Nov. 11, from the driveway of a home Tokeneke Road.
Sharon Joy Workman died peacefully on Nov. 8 at her residence at the Edgehill Retirement Community in Stamford surrounded by her children. She was 91.
Seven victims reported the theft of checks mailed from mailboxes in Darien, including mailboxes outside the Post Office — and in one case, a paycheck that was mailed to a town resident — the victims told police on Nov. 2, 3, 6, 9, 10 and 11.
