For the third time in nine days, a thief took a leaf blower from a landscaper as the landscaper was working outside a house in Darien, according to police.
The first case (as reported here) took place on Saturday, Nov. 6; the second, on Monday, Nov. 8; the third, on the following Monday Nov. 15. One leaf blower had been on a lawn, the other two were in trucks.
Pembroke Road, Reported Nov 8
Officers were called to an address on Pembroke Road (just north of the Country Club of Darien) at 3:46 p.m.
The victim said the backpack leaf blower was stolen from his truck as he worked outside the house, starting at 3 p.m. He noticed that the leaf blower was missing at about 3:39 p.m.
Althea Lane, Reported Nov 15
Officers were called to an address on Althea Lane (northeast of Darien High School) at 1:52 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15.
The landscaper said that while he was working there, a dark sedan car pulled up the driveway. (A dark car was also used in the Nov. 6 incident on Deerfield Road, as recorded by a home security camera.)
A white male got out and waved at the victim, then grabbed the backpack blower on the lawn, got back in the car with it and drove away.
