What was it like to live in Darien 200 years ago? As the town celebrates its 200th birthday it’s an opportune time to ask the question.

A new exhibition and commemorative book, Darien 1820 — New Town, New Times by Darien Historical Society Historian Ken Reiss, will open with a Champagne Gala on Friday, March 20 at 7 p.m. at the Darien Historical Society, 25 Old Kings Highway North, Darien.

The latest “Darien Neighbors, Global Players” speaker series includes SE Cupp, a commentator with a show on CNN; Steve Mandel, the founder of the Lone Pine Capital Investing hedge fund; and Ian Murray, founder and CEO of Vineyard Vines.

Not every gymnastics team qualified for the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference this year, but Darien did — barely.

Heading into the Feb. 15 championship meet at Stamford’s Westhill High School, the Blue Wave was seeded seventh out of seven high schools, county-wide. When the chalk dust settled, though, Darien had nudged ahead of Staples, 125.05, with a 127.4 score that bumped the Wave to sixth place.
