Kathleen Keegan Lyons, 78, of Darien, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, June 13. She was born Oct. 28, 1940 in Barry, County Longford, Ireland, the daughter of the late Michael and Brigid Keegan. A brave Kathleen immigrated to America at the age of 17, saying a difficult goodbye to her homeland, parents and 10 siblings. She worked in the nursery at The Angel Guardian Orphanage in Brooklyn, New York.

Sally Shore Payne passed away, June 8, 2019 in Norwalk, with her family by her side. She was 87. Sally was born in 1931 and grew up in the Jackson Heights section of Queens in New York City. She graduated as an English major from Smith College in 1953, the year she married Herrick Littlefield. Together they lived for many years in Darien, where they raised their four children.

Richard Alan Feldon, 87, went to a Super Bowl in heaven after passing away on Friday, June 7. His enthusiasm for sports, military history, music and travel was surpassed only by his love for his family and friends, who will miss and never forget him. An avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and one of the first season-ticket holders, Dick rarely missed a game — even during his worldwide travels. When football season was over, you’d find him playing golf or watching tennis, baseball, basketball, or at least a great Jeopardy show. Dick spent 39 years at The Procter & Gamble Company, retiring in 1994 as managing director of world strategic planning for the Paper Products Division.

Ellen Terzian “Bunny” Ericsson left for heaven from home in Darien surrounded by love on Saturday, May 18. She was 92. She was born in New York on March 20, 1927. Bunny was predeceased by her loving and proud husband of almost 70 years, Walter, and by her parents, Alexander and Ellen Nekander Terzian. Music was Bunny’s life and she touched countless lives with her gifts, talent, generosity and encouragement until the day she departed.

Elsie M. Bromfield, 90, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on March 27, 2019 in Greenville, South Carolina. Elsie was born in Stamford, a first-generation American, the eldest daughter of Olaf and Eine Olsen.

Elsie lost her soulmate, best friend and the love of her life, Robert Bromfield, in March 2018, and she looked forward to the day when they would be reunited in Heaven. Elsie was a lifelong resident of Stamford who fell in love with Bob during their years together at Stamford High School. Elsie and Bob rarely spent time apart from one another during their 68-year marriage, and together were active members of the Noroton Presbyterian Church and Woodway Country Club. Elsie sang in the Noroton Presbyterian choir for decades, served on numerous committees there and volunteered with Meals on Wheels for many years.

John W. Timbers, age 76, passed away peacefully at home in Bethel on May 23, 2019. John was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1942 to Charlotte T. Timbers and the Honorable William H. Timbers, who later served as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. John graduated from Darien High School in 1960 and from Dartmouth College in 1964, after which he attended the University of Edinburgh in Scotland as a Rotary Scholar. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 1968, he clerked for the Honorable Inzer B. Wyatt on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. From 1973 to 1976, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York under Paul J. Curran and Robert B. Fiske Jr.

He later practiced law as an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and in private practice in Stamford.

Rocco “Rocky” Salvatore Cingari, 89, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on June 3. Rocky was born on Aug. 14, 1929, son of the late Salvatore and Rosa D’Allura Cingari. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Rocky then spent the next 67 years, first as vice president of Grade A ShopRite Supermarkets, then in the early 80s, rising to become president and CEO, a position he has held to date.

Anthony M. Malizia, beloved husband, father, and friend passed away peacefully on May 30 in Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart, Florida. He was 82. His like will never be seen again. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Carol Colombo Malizia, to whom he was married for 31 years, his father Aniello Malizia, his mother Rose Melfi Malizia, his sister Clara Malizia DeFala, and his brother Neil “Butch” Malizia. Mr. Spratt was born on Sept. 17, 1928, in Darlington, an industrial town in the far northeast of England. With World War II raging and his parents unable to afford the cost of books, he had to leave school at the age of 14.

Claudia Jeanne VanVoorhis Trant Christensen died peacefully at home on May 29, two days before her 95th birthday. She was born in Salt Lake City to Bertha Claudia Rich and Lemert Philips VanVoorhis. She went to Stewart School, graduated from East High and the University of Utah where she was a Chi Omega. Claudia attended Stanford Business School where she was one of three women in her class. After school, she had a rich and varied professional life as an English teacher at the University of Utah, an advertising and personnel manager at Keith O’Brien department store, copywriter at KSL radio, and assistant to the president at Christensen Diamond Products.

Philip Joseph Connell, 76, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Seacoast McLeod Hospital in North Carolina. Phil was born Sept. 20, 1942 in Springfield, Massachusetts to parents Ruth Walsh and Philip Joseph Connell. After World War II, his family moved to Darien, where he grew up and graduated from Darien High School in 1960. In 1964, he graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts with a bachelor of science degree in economics and accounting.

George A. Hoy Jr. died peacefully on Dec. 9, age 92. Katie, his loving wife of 68 years was at his side. George and Katie were a rare example of partners in both marriage and business, having operated the Inn at Brandywine Falls for the past 30 years, writing two books, hosting countless guests, swapping stories with guests that just make you feel good about people and life. With a master’s degree in experimental learning theory from Kent State University, George worked for General Motors in personnel, then as industrial psychologist and training director at the former Cadillac Tank Plant (present IX Center) and taught a night class in statistics at Baldwin Wallace while living in Snow Village in Parma, where he was elected cooperative president.
