Ted Larson, 82, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and East Orleans, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Dec. 6, 2019 after succumbing to injuries sustained during a bicycle accident in October. John Theodore Larson was born in 1937 to John and Frieda Larson in Roslyn, New York. After graduating from Darien High School in 1955 he went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and economics at Cornell University and an MBA from Columbia University. After graduation he worked for Union Carbide and then spent over 25 years in marketing and operations at General Foods.

Brigitte Olsson, a recent immigrant to the U.S. and Darien, died on Tuesday Dec. 3, 2019. She was 85. She was born Brigitte Matern in Grieslinen, East Prussia, now part of Poland, on May 10, 1934. She and her five siblings fled to West Germany to escape Russian troops marching to Berlin in January 1945, and in 1956 she moved to Switzerland to become sales manager in a clothing company.

David N. Elders, 78, of Rowayton, CT died peacefully on Sunday Dec. 1, 2019, at Westchester Medical Center. Dave was born in Port Chester, New York on February 1, 1941. He was the son of the late Irwin and Irene Elders. He graduated from New Canaan High School in 1959 where he played baseball, football, and hockey.

Susan Parker Gurney died on Thursday, Nov. 14, peacefully at her home in Darien. Mrs. Gurney worked as a model while attending Skidmore College, then at Bankers Trust Co. as a platform assistant. She is survived by her two children, Christie Rawlings of Lakeville and Mariamne “Magie” Gurney of Darien; her stepson, Christopher Gurney of Clearwater, Florida; three grandchildren; and her sibling, K. Bryan Parker.

Barbara “Bunny” Carney Heuer of Madison died at home, with her daughters by her side, on Dec. 1, 2019. She was 86. She was born in Chicago on May 19, 1933, the daughter of Bud and Louse Carney. She lived in the city of Chicago and later, on the North Shore, where she attended Lake Forest Academy and the North Shore Country Day School.

William Charles Brian Peoples, 85, of Darien passed away on Nov. 27, 2019 after a battle with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. Brian was born on April 10, 1934 to John and Nancy Peoples on Staten Island, New York. After graduating from Staten Island Academy in 1951, he went on to study math at the University of Rochester and received an MBA in accounting from Rutgers University Business School. After graduation from college he went into the Army, then attended graduate school and then secured his first job as an accountant for Arthur Anderson, beginning his 38-year career in accounting as a CPA.

Patrick C. “Pat” Lowery, 71, of Norwalk, died at the Norwalk Hospital on Nov. 29. He was the loving husband of Christine (D’Amato) Lowery for 46 years. Pat was born in Tarrytown, New York on Oct. 17, 1948, the son of the late Edward D. and Catherine (Curtin) Lowery. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, and was a longtime employee of BMW of Darien.

Mrs. Sally Lila Mazzeo Wynne, 87, a longtime resident of Greenwich, passed away peacefully on Nov. 24 with her family at her side. Sally’s children describe their Mom as patriotic, fiercely loyal and loving to her family and friends, and courageous in the face of life’s trial and tribulations. She was born Sept. 10, 1932 in Stamford to the late Salvatore and Lillian Conti Mazzeo.

Herbert A. Granath of Darien passed away peacefully on Nov. 26 in Stamford. He was 91 years old. Herb was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and attended Brooklyn Tech High School. He studied physics at Fordham University while working nights as a page at NBC, and, with his interest in media thus sparked, went on to do graduate work at Fordham in communication arts.

Bill McDonagh of Palm Coast, Florida passed away at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida on Nov. 12. He was born and raised in Canbrack, Kiltimagh, County Mayo, Ireland and moved to the United States when he was 19. He lived in Queens, New York, Stamford and Darien before retiring to Florida. Bill worked as an engineer for Metro-North Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 2004.

Vincenzo Brunetto, 88, of Darien entered eternal rest on Nov. 25, 2019 surrounded by his loving family in his home. He was the devoted husband of 61 years to Vincenza Cernuto Brunetto. Vincenzo was born on May 28, 1931 in Solicchiata, Sicily, the son of Salvatore and Giuseppina Brunetto. In 1968, Vincenzo bravely immigrated from Sicily to the United States with his wife and children, creating a new successful life for his family.

Thomas E. Gunn of Philadelphia and longtime Darien resident, passed away peacefully on Nov. 19, 2019. He was 87. He was born March 23, 1932 in Valley Stream, New York and was the son of William and Martha Gunn. Tom attended Valley Stream High School and graduated from Lehigh University with an engineering degree.

Margaret Florence Burden Childs of New York City died peacefully at home on Monday, Nov. 18. She was 83. Muff, as she was affectionately known, was born in Los Angeles on Nov. 9, 1936, to the late Flobelle Fairbanks Burden, an actress, and Shirley Carter Burden, a photographer.

Carol M. Terhune, a resident of Darien, died on Monday, Nov. 18. She was 84. Born in Montclair, New Jersey on June 3, 1935, Carol was the daughter of the late Dorothy Cummings Van Duyn and Harold Norton Van Duyn. Carol graduated in 1953 from Glen Ridge High School in New Jersey.

Joy L. Brass, 83, a resident of Nichols Hill Road in Dorset, Vermont, passed away peacefully on Friday Nov. 15, 2019 at Bromley Manor in Manchester Center, Vermont. The daughter of LeRoy A. and Christine (Johnston) LaRoche, she was born in Colonie, New York on Jan. 13, 1936. Joy graduated from Wells College in Aurora, New York with a B.A. in English literature in 1957.
