Letter: Revival of Thursday Morning Coffee Meetups at the Sugar Bowl

To the Editor,

For many years the Darien Times has hosted a Thursday morning coffee. The “Coffee”in large part centered around, although not limited to, local, state, and national politics. Congressman Jim Himes made it a point to attend, engage, and take the temperature of what was going on in Darien. Thank you to all of the papers editors and staff over the years for taking the time and understanding the importance of this lively engagement. Recently as many of you are aware the Darien Times was  purchased and has undergone some restructuring.

Randy Klein Knows the Importance of Funding Transportation Infrastructure
To the editor:

Its easy to talk about fixing our transportation infrastructure.  While politicians are busy blaming each other for the problem, the rest of us are stuck in traffic, or waiting for a delayed train.

Trust the Republican, Wood, to Improve Connecticut, Not the Democrat, Klein
To the editor,

Many of Darien’s taxpayers know that in the years of my serving on the Darien Board of Finance, I repeatedly warned the town’s citizens that the time would come when the financial situation in Hartford was so abysmal that Darien would have to go it alone when it came to receiving any state grants or cost-sharing.

Randy Klein Running Against Terrie Wood for 141st State Rep Seat

Democrat Randy Klein has announced he’s running against Republican state Rep. Terrie Wood in the 141st General Assembly District that covers most of Darien. “The voters of Darien and Rowayton deserve a real choice in who represents them in Hartford,” Klein said in an announcement emailed Monday morning. “We need our voice to be heard where it matters most and, right now, it’s not being heard.” Klein has filed the initial paperwork for the campaign. The former chairman of the Darien Democratic Town Committee and husband of former First Selectwoman Evonne Klein (now the commissioner of the state Department of Housing) said  he’s “still in the very early stages of my campaign.”
