Democrat Randy Klein has announced he’s running against Republican state Rep. Terrie Wood in the 141st General Assembly District that covers most of Darien.
“The voters of Darien and Rowayton deserve a real choice in who represents them in Hartford,” Klein said in an announcement emailed Monday morning. “We need our voice to be heard where it matters most and, right now, it’s not being heard.”
Klein has filed the initial paperwork for the campaign. The former chairman of the Darien Democratic Town Committee and husband of former First Selectwoman Evonne Klein (now the commissioner of the state Department of Housing) said he’s “still in the very early stages of my campaign.”
His statement continued:
“Too many politicians in Hartford are focused on scoring partisan points instead of actually doing their job. This race isn’t about Democrats and Republicans. This race is about getting Connecticut back to business.”
The 141st district covers Rowayton as well as most of Darien. Klein said he’s “looking forward to learning more about the voters’ priorities and concerns over the next few months.”
