Theatre 308’s ‘Our Town’ Thursday Performance Postponed to 2 PM Saturday

Due to the weather and the school district decision to cancel after-school and evening activities, the Thursday evening Theatre 308 performance of Our Town has been rescheduled for this Saturday, Nov.17 at 2 p.m.

Tickets purchased for Thursday will be honored for the 2 p.m. Saturday show. Separately, the play is being performed Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

‘Supper and Soul’ in Westport: One Ticket Gets You Dinner and a Kasey Tyndall Concert

For one $75 ticket (which actually costs 83.32 with the unavoidable added charges), you can go to one of six Westport restaurants at 6 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 10, then see a concert by Kasey Tyndall. It’s part of Westport’s Downtown Dinner and Concert Series run by the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce which describes it as “date night in a bottle,” meaning you (sort of, see below) pay once, pick your place to eat and then go. For more information, see the event’s Web page on the website of the organizer, the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce, which says: “If you have any questions contact the chamber office at 203-227-9234 or email matthew@westportwestonchamber.com”
Timing
Dinner is at 6 p.m., the concert starts at 8 p.m. After the show, ticket-holders get “Happy Hour pricing.” Publicity materials indicate your evening will continue until 10:30 p.m.

Stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze, who’s appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Conan, performs Saturday night at the Regina A. Quick Center at Fairfield U. to benefit Homes with Hope, a Westport-based charity providing shelter and services to the homeless. Tickets for the 8:30 p.m. show are $45, but if you pay more, you can go to a reception “under the tent” starting at 6:30 p.m. or in the lobby at 8 p.m., according to the Homes for Hope website. The performance continues until 10:30 p.m.

Registration is open for the Oct. 14 Walk/Run for Abilis at Greenwich Point Park. The event includes a three-mile run for runners of all levels and a one-mile walk that is accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. You can join hundreds of people from Darien, Norwalk and surrounding towns who will be running, walking and riding, then listening to Bob Marley’s legendary reggae band, The Wailers, this Sunday, Sept. 30 at the fourth annual Raveis Ride + Walk at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk. The Wailers will perform when the riders and walkers have finished. “Many people have told me that they want the event twice a year — once in the spring and once in the fall — or at least for the entire weekend rather than just one Saturday in the fall,” says organizer Nobu Miki. “But the event is up to Mother Nature, and only one day in the fall is just fine.” Unlike other local art shows, Nobu does not set up tents, and participating artists display their works on easels or tables — just like the artists in Montmarte, Paris.

No-No Boy Project: Multimedia Concert Sunday at Darien Library

Darien Library presents the No-No Boy Project: songs, films, and stories of the Asian American Experience. The event takes place from 5 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 16 in the library’s Community Room. The No-No Boy Project is a multimedia concert featuring the music of singer/songwriter Julian Saporiti. Inspired by his doctoral research at Brown University, as well as his experiences growing up as the son of a Vietnamese refugee in Tennessee, Saporiti’s original songs, interwoven amongst stories he has collected through the years, are performed against a backdrop of projections displaying archival photographs and films.

No-No Boy creates an immersive experience which shines a light on diverse but interconnected histories: WWII Japanese Incarceration, southeast Asian refugees, and kids in middle-America making sense of hyphenated identities.

Co-founders Laura Delaflor and Lucy Langley started the Undies Project in 2015 after recognizing that underwear is the most under donated and most needed item of clothing.  No one should be deprived of the simple, daily necessity of clean underwear. Cocktails & Comedy promises to be a fun evening of laughter with Ross Bennett, a popular headliner at comedy clubs worldwide, veteran comedian (and BTW, he is also a veteran!). Ross Bennett appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman.  Ross was the winner of the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Web Series at the LA Webfest 2016.  A star on Sirius XM Comedy Channels, Ross is a recurring guest on the Bob & Tom Show, the popular morning radio show heard by over 5 million listeners daily.
