‘Westoberfest’ on Oct 13 in Westport Has Beer Tasting, Family Activities, Artisans, Car Rally

More than 16 local and regional breweries will serve up their favorite seasonal craft beer tastings at Westoberfest, which runs from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13  in the heart of downtown Westport on Elm Street.

The event will have over 40 tastings (starting at 2 p.m.) from a variety of award winning and innovative breweries, an assortment of fun fall activities, and a location steps away from Westport shops and restaurants.

Beyond the exceptional craft beer experience, there will be a designated kids and family area that will feature face painting and fall crafts provided by the Artist Collective of Westport, Westport Historical Society, the Westport Library and Wakeman Town Farm. Earthplace will also participate with a live animal exhibit.

Spend time exploring a pop-up artisan market organized by The Westport Farmers Market, and gear up for a classic car rally and exhibition by The Small Car Company of Westport.

Westoberfest family activities open at 1 p.m. and are free to the public. the craft tasting area opens at 2 p.m. and requires a ticket for entry. The festival closes at 5 p.m.

Local culinary favorites Kawa Ni and Rothbard Ale + Larder will be on hand to satisfy any appetite, and patrons can sip and savor to the music of Easton based duo Amber Anchor.

“Westoberfest will be a true collaboration of a number of town groups and businesses, each who provide something unique to surprise and delight those who attend” said Randy Herbertson, WDMA president. “We believe this event will provide another reminder to our region why it is great to shop, dine and enjoy in downtown Westport.”

Visitors to Westoberfest can also enjoy Saugatuck StoryFest, happening the same weekend around downtown and on Jesup Green. Saugatuck StoryFest is a three-day celebration of writing that combines a town-wide multidisciplinary literary festival with a craft-focused, workshop-based writers conference.

It is a partnership between a public library-the Westport Library-and a public school system-the Westport Public Schools. For more information on StoryFest visit the Westport Library website.

Westoberfest is a rain or shine event, and there is an indoor contingency plan in place in case of inclement weather.

Tasting participants receive an age verified wristband, unlimited tastings, and a take home commemorative Westoberfest tasting glass.
