Take a scuba class, learn what to do with a (yech) bleeding wound, take a dance class, sample food and find out more ways of staying healthy next weekend, Oct 20 and 21, at the 7th Annual Stamford Health, Wellness & Sports Expo 2018.
It takes place barely a mile from Darien at Chelsea Piers CT.
Presented by WABC-TV, the largest health and wellness expo in Connecticut will feature a wide range of health education by Stamford Health [that annoying name Stamford Hospital has adopted— editor], fun activities for children plus the latest information, products and services from over 100 exhibitors.
Food and a Raffle
Attendees can taste savory foods from 18 different restaurants and healthy food and beverage exhibitors at the Healthy Restaurant Sampling Zone.
The public can also purchase raffle tickets for $5 and bring nonperishable food to support The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. Raffle prizes will be announced throughout the weekend.
Scuba Classes
Scuba classes with Capt. Saam’s Scuba School will return again this year and take place on Sunday afternoon at the Chelsea Piers pool.
The cost is $35 per person and participants will also receive a $50 coupon toward future lessons.

Free Dance Fitness Classes
Attendees can also take part in “Dance It Out” with Billy Blanks Jr., as seen on ABC-TV’s Shark Tank and owner of Blanks Studios in Greenwich, who will lead three of his popular dance fitness classes each day at no charge.
Visit www.hws-expos.com for the class schedule and waiver form.
Workshop: Stop Bleeding from a Wound
The Stamford hospital will also offer a special workshop, “Stop the Bleed,” a program of the American College of Surgeons.
The workshop will teach the different ways to control bleeding, including direct pressure, wound packing, quick clot gauze and tourniquet use. To register for one of the 30-minute sessions, email the Stamford Health Trauma Department at trauma@stamhealth.org.
“We encourage the public to learn critical lifesaving skills and visit the many exhibits to gain new knowledge and health tips,” said Vicki Hoffman, director of the Neurosciences Service Line at Stamford Health.
