A woman 54, told Darien police that a scuffle broke out late Saturday night at a Darien bar in which a she was pushed, a drink was thrown at her and she was hit in the face.

The woman, a Stamford resident, called police at 11:30 p.m. to file a complaint about the incident. She said it began near the front door of Darien Social at 10 Center St., when she was listening to a band.

A woman behind her pushed her and told her she was standing in the way, she said. That woman’s husband threw a drink in her face, causing her eye glasses to fall off. She was then hit in the face.

The complainant did not say she was injured, but said she was concerned her face would be sore in the morning. She said she wasn’t sure how the man hit her, but she didn’t think he hit her with a closed fist. She said she didn’t think there would be witnesses at the bar because everybody was watching the band.

Police spoke to employees and management at the bar. Employees thought the complainant had thrown a drink first at a female patron and that the patron’s husband had retaliated by throwing a drink in the complainant’s face.

The employees and a manager said they didn’t believe any punches were thrown.

Police were continuing to look into the matter and trying to identify the female patron and the man with her.
