William Fairchild Weidlich, son of Clifton Fairchild Weidlich and Katherine Slabey Weidlich, died of heart failure in Manhattan, on Sunday, July 3. He was 77.

A funeral service for William Weidlich will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, in New York City.

A native of Manhattan, and former resident of Darien and Washington, Conn., he was known to most as “Gus.”

This legal advisor, soccer coach, tennis nut, avid sports fan, loyal friend and beloved member of the community remained an active alumnus of St. Bernard’s ’53, Philips Exeter Academy’56, Yale’60 and the University of Virginia Law School ’63.

He was also active within the church, maintaining membership at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church for over 55 years.

Most recently, William distinguished himself as an advocate for Care for the Homeless.

He is survived by his three children, Anne Wilson, William Bradford and Elizabeth Fairchild.

Memorial services will be held at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, July 13 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow.
