Letter: State Rep Terrie Wood Has the Right Priorities for Connecticut

To the editor:

I am writing to offer my support for Terrie Wood for state representative. Terrie always takes the time to listen to the concerns of her constituents. I greatly appreciate her practical focus on ending years of fiscal mismanagement in Hartford, which has left one of the wealthiest states in the nation a fiscal disaster. Terrie’s other priorities for her next term are desperately needed right now: rebuilding the local economy with a focus on small businesses, addressing the needs of our education system and the importance of local control of schools, and ending top down control in Hartford so that the voices of the citizens are heard and respected. Terrie Wood is a true public servant, focused on the needs of her community rather than on her own political agenda, and I am proud to support her re-election.

With Left Wing in Charge, State Lawmakers Rush Out Some Poor Legislation

Where is the common ground and common sense? From the hundreds of conversations I’ve had, 80 to 85% of us fit a “moderate middle” description: center right on state fiscal issues and center left on social issues. So why is it that the very far left in our state carries such weight in setting public policy? Where is the balance, respect for process and common sense? Where is the sense of responsibility to work together to craft good policy to benefit all in our state?

To the editor:

While media headlines focus on the extraordinary challenges of these times, we might easily inadvertently overlook the distinctive challenges we share as Connecticut residents. Working to engineer a promising path for Connecticut at large, while delivering our voice in Hartford is hard work — addressed effectively — by Terrie Wood, our state representative. A commonsense, collaborative leader who is recognized for her interest in listening and understanding, Terrie brings promise relative to the interests we share in legislation and policy devised in Hartford. Below the current headlines, Terrie brings an undaunted sense of purpose in forging a course that will restore an affordable outlook for our residents and for our businesses. Terrie’s focus on tax policy, behavioral health, education, and our environment, paired with protecting local control of our schools and public planning are vital to protecting the attributes we relish.

Terrie Wood Announces Re-Election Campaign for State Representative

To the editor,

I’m pleased to announce that I will be running again for state representative in the 141st district — Darien, Norwalk and Rowayton. I am truly honored to have served these past years and look again to bring my legislative experience in Hartford to bear on solving the challenges we now all face right here. We live in very different and challenging times. Many of us have adapted with a compassionate understanding of the many complexities brought on by the coronavirus. While witnessing such widespread negative impact, I see positives, as well, with our citizens genuinely working together like I’ve not seen in many years.

Jayme Stevenson and Terrie Wood in Public Discussion on State Issues

Everyone’s invited to join hosts First Selectman Jayme Stevenson and state Rep. Terrie Wood for a morning cup of coffee and a conversation about the state budget, and how proposals in the new state legislative session would impact Darien. Gov. Ned Lamont, a Democrat, recently announced his proposed budget for the 2020 legislative session, which includes initiatives that have people talking. Tolls, transportation, health, education, and other issues are being debated in Hartford and require our attention and response. Both Stevenson and Wood are Republicans, and the event is sponsored by the Republican Town Committee. Wood represents the 141st House of Representatives district, which covers Rowayton and most of Darien.
