Walter Lindecke obit

Walter Otto Lindecke, 94, of Wilton died peacefully on March 8. Born in Cobbel, Germany in 1927 to Otto and Anna Lindecke, Walter moved with his family to Cobleskill, New York when he was eight years old. There, he met his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Dox, with whom he built his life in Warwick, New York, followed by Belleair, Florida and finally Wilton. He graduated from Adelphi University with a bachelor’s degree in business management and had a long and distinguished career in business, retiring from the Warwick Savings Bank. Upon moving to Wilton at the age of 90, Walter made many friends at the Wilton Senior Center, enjoying hours of games and friendship with so many of Wilton’s senior community.

Bernard Carroll Topper Jr., a resident of Darien for 50 years, passed away on April 7, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born on Oct. 26, 1942, in York, Pennsylvania, to the late Bernard and Dorothy Topper. A kind and generous man, Bernie was deeply devoted to his family. He especially cherished the gatherings when the entire family was together in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, where sticky bun mornings and body surfing with his children and grandchildren were a family tradition.

Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, godfather and dear friend David A. Cobb, 58, of Darien passed away on Thursday, March 31. David was born on Dec. 2, 1963 to Ralph and Nancy Cobb in Oradell, New Jersey. He graduated from Pascack Hills High School in Montvale, New Jersey in 1982. He went on to study business and economics at Lehigh University, where he was a lifelong active member of Theta Delta Chi fraternity.

Robert Henry Darby Sr., a resident of Shelton, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by his wife and children. He was 74. Born on June 16, 1947 in Stamford, he was the son of the late William Steven and Ann Marie (Market) Darby. Graduate of Darien High School, Class of ’66 and went on to Chamberlayne Junior College in Boston, Class of ’68. Bob was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps.

Barbara was born and raised in Stamford and was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Novak) Chudy. Barbara graduated from Stamford High School, Class of 1961. Barbara was known for her strength, kindness, warm spirit, sense of humor, and dedication to family. She was a devoted wife and mother, but loved being a grandmother above all else.

She was predeceased by her son Scott T. Sutton in 2002 and her husband Thomas Sutton, former chairman of Dover Corporation, in 2004. Jayne was born in Cincinnati in 1923 and was the daughter of Charles and Antoinette Harrington.

Pam Heberton passed away quietly at home in the loving arms of her husband, daughter, and son on Sunday evening, March 6, 2022. This ended her long battle with lung cancer, which she fought with her typical inner strength and determination. Born in New York City in 1958, Pam was the loving only child of Harold and Alice Martin. Pam grew up in the shadow of the George Washington Bridge on Cabrini Boulevard until she moved to Darien in the early 1970s. Her mother’s family were longtime residents of Norwalk and Pam often recounted visiting her grandmother’s small farm there and gathering eggs for the family.
