A Weeds Landing resident told police at 7:40 a.m., Monday, Jan. 23, that he’d found various pieces of mail, some of it opened, under a bush near the intersection of Weeds Landing and the Post Road (about 500 feet west of the driveway leading into the Darien YMCA).
Police gave this further description of what happened:
The mail was addressed to two residents of the Post Road and included an open Amazon.com package. Police got in touch with the victims and told them to monitor credit reports to make sure they weren’t also the victims of identity theft.
The victims didn’t know who would have taken their mail, and police have no suspects. The town postmaster and other U.S. Postal Service officials were notified
