Man, 27, Hospitalized After One-Car Accident on Middlesex Road

A 27-year-old Darien man remains in a hospital after his car left the driveway of St. Thomas More Church on Sunday, Jan. 22, then hit a fence and a utility pole a little further south on the street, Darien police said.

Police gave this further information:

A witness told police that at about 4:15 p.m., the car, a white 2008 Saturn, was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the parking lot driveway of the church at 374 Middlesex Road before turning left onto Middlesex Road. A 30-foot section of a fence was taken down when the car crashed into it. The utility pole was damaged.

No one else was in the car, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The man was taken to Stamford Hospital with a head injury and as still being treated there as of Monday morning, Jan. 30.

No charges have been filed against the driver. The matter is still under investigation.
