The Wingmen are one of Darien’s hometown bands — Robert McMullan, Tom Travaglini, Charlie Howe, John Markham, Ray Bartone and Larry LeHan. They are six Darien dads holding on tightly to their day jobs but who occasionally rock the place at local bars and private parties in town. Their 60s-80s rock and pop tunes mixed with an improvisational style are sure to entertain and get you moving.

Busker’s origin dates back to the mid ’90s when Paul Dubanowitz, Kevin Bannerton and Paul Kezmarsky were part of The Blue Route. During those years, they shared the stage with such artists as Mike Peters (The Alarm), Simon Townshend, Cold Water Flat and G.E Smith (Saturday Night Live). They returned to stage after a short hiatus and renamed, Busker and adding new members Kevin McGuire and Chris Telep to the band.

New Orleans brass band-meets-Mardi Gras Indian outfit Cha Wa radiates the energy of the city’s street culture. Their Grammy-nominated album “Spyboy” (a nod to frontman J’Wan Boudreaux’s role in the Golden Eagles) is a modern mix of fiery, toe-tapping sounds. Popmatters describes the band as “a grand gumbo of singing, intoxicating rhythms, and deep funk grooves that are impossible to resist.”

Henry, who was formerly lead singer of “The David Henry Project”, started his own band in 2015. Sugar Bear is a seven-piece band that performs unique renditions of classic Rhythm & Blues, Classic Rock, Soul, Reggae, Country and contemporary songs. They have wowed the audiences each year with incredible performances and have quickly become a fan favorite. Darien Summer Nights is thrilled to have Sugar Bear back to Grove Street Plaza for what is sure to be a great concert.

Phil Rosenthal is a nationally renowned singer, songwriter, recording artist and record producer. For many years the lead singer and guitarist in the popular bluegrass group The Seldom Scene, he is also highly respected for his instrumental skills on banjo and mandolin. A native of Guilford, Phil began his professional career in the 1970s as mandolin player and singer in the New England-based bluegrass bands Apple Country and Old Dog.

Grammy Award winner Pedro Giraudo has been a prominent figure on the tango scene for well over a decade, performing with the most important interpreters of tango in the United States, and attracting his own following among both tango dancers and music lovers. In 2015, Pedro officially launched a number of his own tango projects, the first of which was his full Pedro Giraudo Tango Orchestra, which debuted at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing.

Pete Francis is a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. In 1995, he founded the band DISPATCH, who became the first ever independent band to sell out Madison Square Garden. They went on to tour through other major venues across the country, including Red Rocks, TD Garden, and The Greek Theaters in both San Francisco and LA. Over the course of their career, they have also brought their live show to audiences in Europe and Australia.

Gunsmoke has been playing for many different audiences for over 25 years, including two sitting Ppresidents of the United States and the world famous Ernest Tubb’s Midnight Jamboree in Nashville, following the Grand Ole Opry. With six recorded albums under their belt, Gunsmoke was inducted into the Connecticut Country Music Hall of Fame, and was elected band of the year six years in a row by the New York Metro Country Music Association. The band was founded on family values as it was created by Nick DeMaio Jr. and his younger brother Jeff.
