This Friday Aug. 30, start the holiday weekend at Darien Summer Nights: We welcome back to Grove Street Plaza a local favorite, Wingmen. — an announcement from Darien Summer Nights

The Wingmen are one of Darien’s hometown bands — Robert McMullan, Tom Travaglini, Charlie Howe, John Markham, Ray Bartone and Larry LeHan. They are six Darien dads holding on tightly to their day jobs but who occasionally rock the place at local bars and private parties in town. Their 60s-80s rock and pop tunes mixed with an improvisational style are sure to entertain and get you moving.

Busker’s origin dates back to the mid ’90s when Paul Dubanowitz, Kevin Bannerton and Paul Kezmarsky were part of The Blue Route. During those years, they shared the stage with such artists as Mike Peters (The Alarm), Simon Townshend, Cold Water Flat and G.E Smith (Saturday Night Live). They returned to stage after a short hiatus and renamed, Busker and adding new members Kevin McGuire and Chris Telep to the band.

A versatile jazz vocalist in Stamford and an undiscovered treasure, Richard “Cookie” Thomas’ career began in Philadelphia in 1960 when he had the opportunity, at fourteen, to open for B.B. King. Richard’s voice is especially suited to well-known classic standards. Richard draws his inspiration from the likes of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, and Johnny Hartman. What to Know Before You Go

New Orleans brass band-meets-Mardi Gras Indian outfit Cha Wa radiates the energy of the city’s street culture. Their Grammy-nominated album “Spyboy” (a nod to frontman J’Wan Boudreaux’s role in the Golden Eagles) is a modern mix of fiery, toe-tapping sounds. Popmatters describes the band as “a grand gumbo of singing, intoxicating rhythms, and deep funk grooves that are impossible to resist.”

About Levitt Pavilion’s Concerts
The Levitt Pavilion offers about 50 outdoor concerts each summer at its outdoor venue along the Saugatuck River in downtown Westport.

Dennis DeYoung will perform at 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 15 in an outdoor concert at the Levitt Pavilion for Performing Arts in downtown Westport. The Levitt is charging $50 and $55 for tickets to this concert, and more for the “premium” section (where a chair is provided). In addition to being one of the original members of Styx, and having a very long run with the band, DeYoung is a singer, songwriter, keyboardist, composer and record producer with a career spanning over 40 years.

Henry, who was formerly lead singer of “The David Henry Project”, started his own band in 2015. Sugar Bear is a seven-piece band that performs unique renditions of classic Rhythm & Blues, Classic Rock, Soul, Reggae, Country and contemporary songs. They have wowed the audiences each year with incredible performances and have quickly become a fan favorite. Darien Summer Nights is thrilled to have Sugar Bear back to Grove Street Plaza for what is sure to be a great concert.

Phil Rosenthal is a nationally renowned singer, songwriter, recording artist and record producer. For many years the lead singer and guitarist in the popular bluegrass group The Seldom Scene, he is also highly respected for his instrumental skills on banjo and mandolin. A native of Guilford, Phil began his professional career in the 1970s as mandolin player and singer in the New England-based bluegrass bands Apple Country and Old Dog.

Harry and his band have been playing the best of the 60s music to adoring fans at Grove Street Plaza for years. This summer, Harry will be joined with band members from The Sun Kings, a local Beatles tribute band. Established more than 50 years ago by band leader Billy Frenz, Billy & the Showmen has earned their reputation as one of Connecticut’s most enduring Rhythm & Blues bands. Billy & the Showmen deliver hard-driving R&B, Soul, and Funk from the ’60s and ’70s! The band’s repertoire includes the best of James Brown, Rick James, Percy Sledge, the Ohio Players, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Marvin Gaye, Wilson Pickett, Junior Welles, King Floyd, Average White Band, Tower of Power, Buddy Miles, Kool & the Gang, and Otis Redding.

Grammy Award winner Pedro Giraudo has been a prominent figure on the tango scene for well over a decade, performing with the most important interpreters of tango in the United States, and attracting his own following among both tango dancers and music lovers. In 2015, Pedro officially launched a number of his own tango projects, the first of which was his full Pedro Giraudo Tango Orchestra, which debuted at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing.

Pete Francis is a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. In 1995, he founded the band DISPATCH, who became the first ever independent band to sell out Madison Square Garden. They went on to tour through other major venues across the country, including Red Rocks, TD Garden, and The Greek Theaters in both San Francisco and LA. Over the course of their career, they have also brought their live show to audiences in Europe and Australia.

The Cutouts is a classic rock quartet based in Connecticut with four decades of entertaining throughout the greater New England/NY-metro area. They performed live with legendary singer/guitarist Jose Feliciano in 2001, and with the NVCC Jazzcat Combo and opened for renowned vocalist, Tony Bennett, at the 2004 Waterbury Palace gala concert. The concerts take place on the Great Lawn or in the Silver Educational Center if there’s rain. Bring chairs, a blanket and a picnic dinner.

Best of the Eagles (BOTE) was established in 2012 by guitarist/vocalist Joe Vadala and a group of professional New Jersey musicians who individually have an auspicious pedigree, are passionate about their love of the Eagles music and who have all worked with numerous national touring artists.

Gunsmoke has been playing for many different audiences for over 25 years, including two sitting Ppresidents of the United States and the world famous Ernest Tubb’s Midnight Jamboree in Nashville, following the Grand Ole Opry. With six recorded albums under their belt, Gunsmoke was inducted into the Connecticut Country Music Hall of Fame, and was elected band of the year six years in a row by the New York Metro Country Music Association. The band was founded on family values as it was created by Nick DeMaio Jr. and his younger brother Jeff.

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes will perform outdoors in the latest concert of the Wednesday Nite Live series at Columbus Park in Downtown Stamford. Jake Kulak & the LowDown also will be on stage. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m., gates open at 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 17 in Columbus Park. UPDATE 5:08 p.m., Wednesday: Despite the possibility of rain, the organizers said on Wednesday that the show is still planned for Columbus park: “Tonight’s show featuring Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes will be held outside in Columbus Park.” UPDATE 5:25 p.m., Wednesday: The Stamford Downtown Special Services District again said the venue hasn’t changed.
