Barrett Bookstore is joining 20 Connecticut bookstores to celebrate INDEPENDENT BOOKSTORE DAY!

For many of you who have trouble driving past a bookstore, here is a great opportunity to get on the road and visit as many of the unique independents scattered through the state as your time and energy permits.

UPDATE:

  • Here’s the list of bookstores and the map:

Here’s an image of the “passport.” We’ve got an easier-to-read list below, with links to websites.

Bookstore Map Independent Bookstore tour 2018Here’s the map. If you eliminate the five farthest flung bookstores from here (or just about, because I-95 makes everything to the south a bit “closer”) then you can take a trip east on Saturday and, when bookstore hours are shorter, a trip north on Sunday. How’s that for a strategy?

______________

— This is an announcement from Barrett Bookstore.

______________

To join the fun, pick up a copy of the Connecticut Independent Bookstore Day Passport (one per family) at any participating store. Passports are available on Monday, April 23, but won’t be stamped until the weekend. So, plan your route!

The map marks the location of each store and is keyed by number to the name and address of your destination. Visit 15 of the 20 stores across the state on April 28 and April 29 and get your passport stamped at each location.

If you complete the passport (15 stamps), you will receive a $25 gift card from each participating location — all 20 stores — for a total value of $500. So, get moving and show Connecticut indie bookstores some LOVE!

“Each store has its own special history and character, but they all share the same passion for books. It is a privilege to be a part of this amazing network of dedicated booksellers,” says Sheila Daley, owner of Barrett Bookstore. “And, of course we depend on our loyal customers to keep this enterprise going. We hope they will stop by!”
