William Robert Golden, Jr. of Darien, Connecticut died in the company of his beloved family on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1946 in Everett, Mass. to William Robert Golden and Edna Hahesy Golden.

A proud “Double Eagle,” he graduated from Boston College High School in 1964 and Boston College in 1968 before enlisting in the army, where he served for three years.

Upon returning from Vietnam, he enrolled in the University of Virginia School of Law. It was at UVa that he met his wife of 41 years, Katharine Quinn Golden.

He was a Partner at Kelley Drye and Warren LLP for 27 years, where he most recently led the intellectual property and technology litigation practice before retiring in 2014.

Bill dearly loved the Boston Red Sox, whose opening game at Fenway he frequently attended, the New England Patriots, and the BC Eagles. Growing up, he spent many memorable summers on Cape Cod and relished in recent years returning there with his children and grandchildren, who adored him.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Susan Ellen Golden. He is survived by his wife and children Katharine Golden Wasnick (Rob) of New York, New York; William Robert Golden III (Leslie) of Alexandria, Virginia; and Elizabeth Golden Jones (Huw) of London, England. He is also survived by his four loving sisters, Janet Allen (Edward); Christine Cardalisco (Patrick); Therese Golden; and Audrey Mancuso (Frank). Among Bill’s greatest joys were his four beautiful grandchildren, Georgia and John Golden, James Wasnick, and William Robert Jones.

A wake will be held at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road in Darien on Friday, Oct. 23, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More Church, Darien, on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Mather Cemetery in Darien.
