DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES

On the last weekend before the DMV’s extensions end for expired registrations (end of day Tuesday, Oct. 13), DMV offices are closed (from 12:30 p.m., Friday to 7:45 a.m. Tuesday). AAA offices, which perform some DMV functions, are open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., but they’re also closed on Columbus Day.

TRANSPORTATION

Buses and trains will run as normal on Monday, without changes.

FRIDAY, Oct. 9

Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles closes early, at 12:30 p.m., reopens at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday. AAA offices are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and they provide some services for the DMV.

SATURDAY, Oct. 10

Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles is closed until 7:45 a.m. Tuesday. AAA offices are open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and they provide some services for the DMV.

SUNDAY, Oct. 11

• No changes.
• AAA offices are NOT open on Sundays.

MONDAY, COLUMBUS DAY, Oct. 12

Closed:

• Connecticut state government offices
• Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles is closed until 7:45 a.m. Tuesday (DMV offices are normally closed on Mondays — AAA offices are also closed for the holiday).
• Darien Public Schools  — officially for “staff development”
• Other Darien and nearby schools and nursery schools closed include — Holly Pond School, Pear Tree Point School, Five Mile River Nursery School
• Darien town government (Recycling Center/Transfer Station remains open as normal, however)
• Darien Senior Activities Center
• U.S. federal government
• Post offices 
• Norwalk Library and the South Norwalk Branch Library are both closed.
• Darien Nature Center
• American Automobile Association offices
• Banks in Darien that are closed: People’s Bank, Darien Rowayton Bank, Fairfield County Bank, Bank of America, Darien Bank & Trust

Open:

• • Banks in Darien that are open: TD Bank, Webster Bank, Citibank, Chase Bank, Wells Fargo
• Darien Community Association
• Darien Library, Rowayton Library, New Canaan Library, Ferguson Library (main library open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., all branches closed)
• Darien Recycling Center and Transfer Station — open as normal, 7 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., sharp)
• Darien YMCA
• Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk
• Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk
• Stamford Museum & Nature Center
• Norwalk Community College
• University of Connecticut Stamford campus

Changes:

• Infinity Fitness: Darien Team Training will be held at: 6 a.m. / 8:30 a.m./ 9:30 a.m./ 10:30 a.m. — “If you have any Private Sessions scheduled that day be sure to check with your trainer to confirm your appointment!”
