A woman who cleans the Springdale Athletic Club at 2 Camp Ave. told police that her vacuum cleaner, valued at $650, was stolen last month.

Efforts had been made in-house to find the thief, but that didn’t work, so the matter was reported to police on Monday, Aug. 17.

The woman, a longtime employee of the organization, typically cleans early in the morning, and on July 11, she showed up at 4:45 a.m. She decided not to go into the building that day because she saw another employee parked there, and she told police she didn’t trust him. It was unclear why she didn’t trust him, and a police spokesman had no information on her reasons.

When the woman returned the next morning, July 12, she went to the area of the club where her Sears Kenmore cannister vacuum cleaner was normally stored and she found the device was gone. The vacuum had last been seen on July 5.
