Randy Klein Knows the Importance of Funding Transportation Infrastructure
To the editor:

Its easy to talk about fixing our transportation infrastructure.  While politicians are busy blaming each other for the problem, the rest of us are stuck in traffic, or waiting for a delayed train.

Trust the Republican, Wood, to Improve Connecticut, Not the Democrat, Klein
To the editor,

Many of Darien’s taxpayers know that in the years of my serving on the Darien Board of Finance, I repeatedly warned the town’s citizens that the time would come when the financial situation in Hartford was so abysmal that Darien would have to go it alone when it came to receiving any state grants or cost-sharing.

To the editor:

I’d like to offer a little quiz to your readers to give a sense of how much State Rep. Terrie Wood does for our town:

Do your kids go to (or did they go to) our top-rated public schools? Do you enjoy our parks, beaches and beautiful open spaces? Do you shop at or own one of the hundreds of vibrant small businesses in the area? Have you supported or benefitted from the multitude of community social services? Assuming the answer is “Yes” to most if not all of these questions gives one a sense of the significant and positive impact that Terrie Wood has had on this community, not only as our state representative but also as a mother, volunteer, community leader and former business owner.

Letter: Renominated State Rep. Terrie Wood Says Balance Spending Priorities with Fiscal Constraint

To the editor:

I’m pleased to announce that I will be running again for state representative in the 141st District, Darien and Norwalk. Many thanks to Belinda Metzger and Ralph Depanfilis for nominating and seconding me and to the delegates for their support on Monday night. It has been my honor and truly a privilege to be your voice and vote in Hartford. Though Connecticut has many positive attributes — a vibrant and diverse population, good schools, a well-educated workforce, rich cultural opportunities, a historic coastline and scenic landscapes — we face deep fiscal challenges. Since the recession of 2008, we’ve dealt with a cycle of deficits, which have resulted from too much spending, shortfalls in revenue and historic underfunding of pension liabilities.

Letter from State Rep. Terrie Wood, Replying to Spencer McIlmurray

Oct. 5, 2015

To the Editor,

I read with interest the letter in the Darienite recently from Spencer McIlMurray, a candidate for the Board of Selectmen. He has joined a number of us, in recognizing that the affordable housing statute 8-30g is discriminatory toward seniors. By naming those in Hartford who have proposed legislation to address this, and stating that I should join them and “engage vigorously,” Mr. McIlmurray demonstrates a lack of understanding of my deep involvement in this issue – something that I feel compelled to correct. In the last two legislative sessions 2014 and 2015 I have co-introduced bills, along with State Representative Jonathon Steinberg (D – Westport), that would amend the 8-30g affordable housing point system: awarding a full point instead of a half point, for senior affordable housing units.
