When police stopped a gray Honda Accord on West Avenue at about 12:30 Wednesday morning, Nov. 21, they determined the driver was intoxicated with alcohol, and his passenger, also intoxicated, had marijuana and traces of cocaine in his backpack, police said. Darien police described what happened with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

As the 19-year-old driver traveled east on West Avenue, the police officer saw the car cross the center dividing lines on the road several times. The officer stopped the vehicle at 12:31 near the intersection of West Avenue and Edgerton Street. When speaking to the driver, the officer smelled an alcoholic beverage.

Police: DUI for Woman, 31, Stopped Just After She Got on Interstate 95

A 31-year-old woman behind the wheel of a white 2013 Jeep Cherokee on Tokeneke Road was stopped by a police officer shortly after 1:46 a.m. on Saturday and charged with driving while intoxicated, Darien police said. Police described what happened with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

At 1:46 a.m., the officer saw the Jeep didn’t have its rear license plate lit, as required by law. The officer followed the vehicle onto Interstate 95 South, where the Jeep was traveling at 75 mph. The Jeep was pulled over. Police did not report seeing any indications that her driving was affected by intoxication.

Police: DUI Charge for Darien Man, 52, Asleep Behind Wheel of Parked Vehicle, Engine Revved

A 52-year-old Darien man was found intoxicated, with more than double the legal amount of alcohol in his blood, asleep behind the wheel of a parked vehicle, its engine revved and steam coming from under the hood, just past midnight on Saturday, Sept. 22, police said. Darien police described what happened with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

The man, who lives in the neighborhood, was in a vehicle parked near the intersection of West Avenue and Charles Street. Four police officers, dispatched after a call at 12:12 a.m., found the man asleep behind the wheel, his foot on the accelerator, the engine revving, steam coming up from under the hood and radiator coolant leaking onto the ground. They woke the man and asked him to step out of the vehicle.

Adoabi Kurylov, 37, of Darien was charged with breach of peace in New Canaan on Wednesday after she confronted a driver while she was riding her bicycle, according to police in that town. In addition to other arrests previously reported, since the beginning of summer she has been arrested in Darien on 44 charges related to illegally obtaining prescriptions on 11 occasions. Westport police filed two similar charges. Darien police also charged her with driving while under the influence. None of these recent Darien charges have been announced by police.

Police: DUI for Man, 58, Driving Unregistered SUV With a Suspended License

A 58-year-old man was driving while under the influence in Darien late Monday afternoon, Aug. 6, and the unregistered car he was driving had a license plate from another car on it, police said. And the man had a suspended driver’s license, police added. Darien police gave this account of the incident, including accusations not proven in court:

At 4:42 p.m., a Darien police officer saw no front license plate on the Ford Explorer traveling east on Old Kings Highway South. The officer checked the rear license plate and found it belonged to a 1999 Audi A4 sedan.

Police: DUI for 26-Year-Old Man at 2 AM on Interstate 95

A man driving in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Exit 10 was swerving from the center lane to the breakdown lane several times before a Darien police officer pulled over his car and later charged him with driving while under the influence, police said. Darien police described what happened with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

The officer was on patrol and using the highway at about 2 a.m. Saturday, May 5 when he spotted a white 2014 Infinity Q50 swerving from lane to lane. After stopping the car and while speaking with the driver, the officer smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic drink. The driver, a 26-year-old Norwalk man, said he had been drinking that night. The driver couldn’t perform field sobriety tests to an acceptable standard, so he was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and failing to drive in the proper lane on a highway.

Police: DUI for Man, 64, Driving Slowly and Erratically on Old Kings Hwy North

A 64-year-old driver was reported to police as driving in an erratic way on Old Kings Highway North, near Goodwives Shopping Center on Palm Sunday evening, and then charged with driving while under the influence after officers themselves saw his driving, Darien police said. Darien police described what happened with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

At 8:17 p.m., Sunday, March 25 someone called police to report the way a tan Chevrolet Silverado was being driven in the area. Officers dispatched to the area saw the car being driven very slowly through the shopping center parking lot. While following the car as it left the lot and headed east on Old Kings Highway North. the officer saw the driver make small abrupt movements and eventually cross outside the lane, over the double-yellow line at a curve in the road.

DUI Monday for Man, 34, After Fender Bender on Leroy Ave Near Post Road

A 34-year-old man was driving intoxicated when his vehicle got into a minor traffic accident with another vehicle shortly before 1 a.m. Monday (today), police said. After police arrived and began speaking with him, according to the police account, the man got angry and started walking back to his car, police told him to stop. When he didn’t, he was forced to the ground and taken into custody. Darien police described what happened with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

At 1:03 a.m., the two-vehicle accident on Leroy Avenue near the Post Road was reported to police. Jose Zuniga of Osborne Avenue in Norwalk was driving with three passengers.
