In a rich town where many leave their cars unlocked overnight, and sometimes their homes, some burglar decided to break into Jake’s Place, the modest little restaurant at the corner of Noroton Avenue and Ledge Road. An employee arriving for work at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, noticed glass on the floor and a broken side window; police were called. A blue bank bag with $25 in dimes, $10 in nickels and $75 in quarters was taken. A small safe nearby appeared to have been rifled through, but it seemed nothing was taken.
