Household Goods Collection at Noroton Heights Supermarkets for Those in Need

Kids in the Cops & Kids Adventures program will be collecting for Darien Human Services Department’s Household Goods Closet from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 18 from at Palmer’s Market and Stop and Shop on Heights Road. The Household Goods Closet was established to supplement Human Service clients’ food budget.  It is stocked with laundry soap, paper goods, cleaning products, personal hygiene products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand soap and other sundries. Most of the goods are donated or are paid for through the Human Service Gifts and Donations Fund. Recognizing that household goods take a big bite out of a food budget, Social Services opened the Household Goods Closet in an effort to allow their clients to purchase more food, rather than household items. Human Services clients are limited to Darien residents.
