Despite humble beginnings and the loss of his eyesight due to glaucoma at the age of six, Ray Charles, depicted by Jamie Foxx, would nonetheless become an icon in both the music industry and the civil rights era.

Haven’t registered the kids for anything this coming February Break week? No problem! Here’s a list of events and things to do at Darien Library for the duration and most don’t need you to register (we note it when you do; some of these are more adult-oriented, but teens might like them):

All day — And Now for the Silliest Way to Celebrate Presidents Day … — “Stop in for a presidential book and snap a photo in our Presidential Photobooth!” 2 to 4 p.m. —Monday Minecraft Mania — “Join us as we present challenges to build and collaborate within the Minecraft program.
