To the editor:
I am writing in support of Christa McNamara who is a Republican running for a spot on the Board of Selectmen. I met Christa when our daughters became best friends in nursery school. I have been in and out of the McNamara home for 14 years.
Christa and I both grew up in Rye, New York and our families have known each other for over 40 years.
I watched this dynamic woman raise three children at the same time that she rolled up her sleeves and worked hard to improve our community.
She has served as PTO president at three different schools, and as an Representative Town Meeting member.
She is a current Board of Education member who recently spent countless hours helping to search for our new Darien school superintendent. She is passionate about education. She has a master’s degree in elementary education, served on the RTM Education Committee, and now on the Board of Education.
She will be in a unique position to create a dialogue between the different town boards to maintain the quality of our schools. She is also a caring person who has volunteered at nonprofits in town.
She takes on the big jobs that no one else wants to do.
She is a devoted wife and mother raising a daughter, two twin boys, and a puppy. I know she will work to keep our town family-friendly.
She has a keen intellect and weighs options well.
I know she will keep the services our town has come to expect while fighting to keep the burden on the taxpayer low. Please join my husband, John, and me in supporting Christa McNamara.
