The funeral service for Rodney Irizarry, Jr. will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 18.

He was born May 17, 1991 in Stamford, the son of Rodney Irizarry, Sr. and the late Kimberly Benedetto-Lamendola. He graduated from Darien High School in 2009.

He was an avid sports fan, closely following the New York Giants and the Mets. RJ also pursued his love of music, teaching himself how to play the drums and the guitar. He played in his first band, Crazy Old Language, while he was still in high school.

RJ is survived by his father, Rodney Sr., his sister Jordan and his brothers Alex, Anthony and Matthew. He leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Anthony and Sandy Benedetto of Darien, his step-mother Shira Irizarry and stepfather John Lamendola. He is also survived by his Godmother Lynn Vetare, several aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his close friends.

A Funeral Service in memory of RJ will be held on May 18 at 11 a.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820. The burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan. Contributions can be made to the JR Schoen Memorial Fund.
