About half an hour after a woman left the bathroom at Starbucks on Thursday, May 12, she realized what she’d done and called the coffee shop to see if it was still there. It wasn’t.
The woman reported the loss to police, who gave this account:
The first thing the woman did was call Starbucks at 815 Post Road to ask someone to check the bathroom. An employee told her the wallet wasn’t there.
The woman returned to the shop to check for herself. She didn’t see it there.
The wallet, a Longchamp brand brown leather item that the woman valued at $150, had contained $80 in cash, her driver’s license and several credit cards.
She called the credit card companies, none of which reported any strange transactions, and had the cards cancelled or suspended.
