Update, Feb. 9 — Darien police have released more information on a Jan. 30 traffic accident in which, police say, a New Canaan man turning from Hollow Tree Ridge Road onto West Avenue just before 5:40 a.m. struck a Darien woman.

Police on Monday gave this further information, including accusations not proven in court:

It was still dark when the New Canaan driver, 51, was driving south on Hollow Tree Ridge Road when he turned his 2003 Acura MDX left onto West Avenue. He said he didn’t see the woman.

The pedestrian, 53, was on the crosswalk, headed north, when she was hit and was wearing a high-visibility reflective vest and other reflective markings on her clothes.

She complained of a sore left shoulder and pain on her right hand. The driver was given an infraction ticket charging him with failure to yield right of way to a pedestrian on a crosswalk.

Last week there were six traffic accidents with two, including this one, involving minor injuries, police said.
