Expect some lanes to be closed on the Merritt Parkway in Westport north (and east) of Exit 42 in Westport during some days and some evenings each week, from now until May 16, state officials announced.

Here’s the exact description of the lane closures and when the lane closures are planned to take place, the Connecticut Department of Transportation said in an April 1 news release. (The lane closures for the project began that day.):

—”Daytime northbound right lane 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for up to six weeks.”

—”Nightly northbound and southbound lane closures between the hours of 7 and 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Fridays, and 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. on Saturdays.”

—”Intermittent closure of entrance and exit ramps at Exits 41 and 42 after 12 midnight as needed.”

The announcement also said:

“The lane closures are necessary to facilitate work associated with improving a five-mile section of the Merritt Parkway (Route 15) and restoring 11 historic bridges. […]

“Roadway improvements include new drainage systems, new Merritt Parkway guiderail and barrier systems, new signing, and upgrades to the roadway pavement to current standards.”
