A sprinkler started running in a building in the Heights at Darien housing complex on Tuesday, Feb. 22, damaging two apartments and a basement maintenance area, police said.

At about 5 a.m., residents in one apartment heard something unusual, and 20 minutes later they saw water flowing from the sprinkler head above a closet.

For an unknown reason, the fire alarm had been set off and activated the sprinkler. The water flowed into apartments 14D and 14B. Firefighters from the Noroton Heights Fire Department came and shut off the electricity.
