Dorothy Naumer Brown, 90, formerly of Darien and Port Clyde , Maine, died peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 5 at her home in Audubon, Pa.

Dorothy Brown died Feb. 5. Her funeral is on Feb. 13.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Sept. 10, 1925, she was the daughter of Dr. Harry and Anna Risch Naumer. She was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Packer Collegiate Institute. She attended Skidmore College and Katherine Gibbs School in New York.

While working as a volunteer at the Plymouth Church canteen in Brooklyn, she met her husband, David Arthur Brown and they married Aug. 6, 1945, the day the atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.

They remained in Brooklyn until Dr. Brown received his medical degree in pediatrics from the Long Island School of Medicine. They were married for 45 years until he passed away in 1990.

Mrs. Brown was an avid volunteer. She worked with the girl and boy scouts, The Children’s Aid Society, The Stamford Hospital, and served as a school librarian and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Stamford-Norwalk Junior League. She also enjoyed gardening, antiques, bridge, and travel.

She is survived by three of her four children. Nancy Pulliam Anglada, David Arthur, Jr., and Peter H. Her eldest child, Janet Ann, died in 1968. She is also survived by five grandsons, five great grand children and her sister, Harriet Dennen.

Funeral services are planned for Saturday, Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 2725 Egypt Road, Audubon, Pa. Interment will be in Port Clyde.
