Annual Flag Day Ceremony Takes Place at 5 PM, Thursday at Darien Town Hall

Darien’s annual Flag Day Ceremony takes place at 5 p.m., Thursday, June 14 at Veterans Circle in front of the Darien Town Hall. The public is encouraged to attend.

Led by Terry Gaffney, chairman of the town Memorials and Ceremonies Commission, and VFW Commander Lenny Hunter, veterans and residents will recite the poem,” I Am Your Flag.”

Town Selectmen and the VFW Color Guard will participate as old flags are collected and retired and a new flag is presented and hung on the Town Hall Flagpole.

The public is encouraged to attend. Town and state officials, girl scouts, boy scouts, police officers, firefighters and ambulance crew members have been invited to attend this ceremony.

Darien’s Monuments and Ceremonies Commission is organizing the ceremony in partnership with Darien’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6933.
