A Stamford native, Dr. Case maintained an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practice for over 40 years, and continues to work today. He has provided pro bono services to hundreds of low-income seniors.

Dr. Case knows that Medicare does not pay for most dental care costs and that for older adults, poor oral health can become an obstacle to eating, leading to poor nutrition and reduced overall health.

“For seniors, maintaining oral health is critically important,” said Dr. Case. “As people age, they become more susceptible to disease, and there is a correlation between gum disease and heart disease. Good oral health reduces the likelihood of developing other health issues.”

Dr. Case helped to establish the Dental Center of Stamford to help low-income residents, which today is part of CHC, Inc. An active community member, he has served on multiple boards including the Stamford Police Foundation and SilverSource, where he served as board chair. He also is currently on the staff of Stamford Hospital.

“Access to dental care can be challenging for seniors,” said Kathleen Bordelon, executive director of SilverSource. “Medicare and Medicaid coverage are limited and for those living on a low fixed income, dental costs can be prohibitive. Dr. Case’s generous donation of service for low-income seniors is a lifesaver. We’re thrilled to be able to honor his contributions to our community.”

The SilverSource Contribution to Community Award is presented to an individual, organization or business in recognition of their significant contributions to the quality of life for older adults in this region, and significant community enhancements that make this a great place to live and retire.

The 4th Annual SilverSource Inspiring Lives Benefit Luncheon will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at Serafina at the IC, 1620 Newfield Avenue in Stamford. Roz Chast, author and renowned cartoonist for “The New Yorker,” will share insights from her award-winning memoir, Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant? (Bloomsbury, 2014), a graphic novel portraying Chast’s own experiences with her aging parents.

Visit the SilverSource website to purchase tickets, which begin at $150. Proceeds will provide essential funds to improve the quality of life of older adults and provide critical financial assistance for those in great need of community support.

Gene Rubino, founder of Plaza Realty & Management Corporation, will serve as honorary event chair alongside co-chairs, Adele Gordon and Polly Rauh. SilverSource would like to thank its media sponsor, Stamford Magazine/Moffly Media.
