Another Quick Recycling Tip in our series:

Swap Shop volunteers

“Linda, Danny, and Kathy are a few volunteers extraordinaire who assist residents and keep the Swap Shop organized and running smoothly.” (Photo from a June 14, 2014 post on Darien Recycling Center’s Facebook timeline)

Since it opened in late 2009, the SWAP SHOP at the Darien Recycling Center has been a local hot spot.

Staffed entirely by volunteers, the Swap Shop saves taxpayers dollars by reducing the amount of waste we pay to have hauled away.

A few simple guidelines: items dropped off must be in usable or repairable condition. No TVs, air conditioners, clothing, mattresses or cribs.

Hours are 7 a.m. to [2 p.m.] and a valid permit is required for entry.

Best of all, no swaps are required to shop! Residents can take what they want and contribute as they see fit.

This announcement comes from the Darien Recycling Center pages on Facebook. Like that page on Facebook and you can get your tips directly, as soon as they come out, and keep informed on other recycling information.
