A 16-year-old boy hosted a party with alcohol on Friday at his home on Mansfield Avenue, said police, who were told that about 20 to 25 teenagers showed up.

Darien police described what happened with this account (including accusations not proven in court):

At 9:09 p.m., police received an anonymous tip about a party with underage drinking brought officers to 359 Mansfield Ave. When they got there, a 21-year-old man met with them and told them he’d just arrived at home, 15 to 20 minutes before, to find that his brother, 16, had invited friends over for the party.

He told police that there were about 20 to 25 teenagers in the house; that he’d asked them to leave; and that he was trying to get the house cleaned up. The officers went in the house to check on the welfare of the teenagers but didn’t find any.

Police then met the teenage host of the party, who admitted that he’d been drinking with his friends, but didn’t know who brought the alcohol. He said the guests all left when police first arrived.

The boy was issued an infraction ticket for possession of alcohol by a minor.
