In colder months, Darien has an overnight parking ban, which police will start to enforce by the wee hours on Tuesday, but just with warnings until Dec. 1, when tickets might be given out.

A Police Department spokesman said cops don’t want to give out tickets if they can avoid it, but if cars are on the streets when they need to be plowed or sanded overnight, tickets will be given out. Police will be much more likely to be giving out tickets as of Dec. 1, the spokesman said.

Technically, the tickets could be given out early on Tuesday. With bars closing by 2 a.m., enforcement is generally unlikely until then and about 6 a.m., the spokesman said.
