In colder months, Darien has an overnight parking ban, which police will start to enforce by the wee hours on Tuesday, but just with warnings until Dec. 1, when tickets might be given out. A Police Department spokesman said cops don’t want to give out tickets if they can avoid it, but if cars are on the streets when they need to be plowed or sanded overnight, tickets will be given out. Police will be much more likely to be giving out tickets as of Dec. 1, the spokesman said.

Effective Dec. 1, 2015 officers will issue tickets to vehicles parked on public roads between the hours of 2 and 6 a.m.
