It’s that time of the year again! Do you have a child under 5? If you’re a Darien resident, work in Darien full-time, or are a Friend of the Darien Library at the $300 annual level or above, we welcome you to register for our Storytime Lottery.
Storytime registration is a lottery, and notification will be Saturday, Jan. 28. Storytimes will begin the week of Monday, January 30, concluding the week of Friday, March 10.
Parents will need a Library card to register. Please only register for one class per session.

Ages
Storytimes are for babies, toddlers, and children up to age 5. The Children’s Library offers other programs for children up to age 12.
Winter Registration: Monday, 1/9 — Monday, 1/23Winter Session: Monday, 1/30 — Friday, 3/10
Schedule
Registered storytimes are offered in the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons. All Summer storytimes are drop-in and do not require pre-registration. Younger children have offerings in the morning, STEAM Preschool is in the morning and the afternoon, Bookworms is in the afternoon. Programs for older kids during the school year are held after-school, evenings and weekends. The Darien Library provides approximately 20 programs a week during a registered session. Drop-in storytimes are available year-round — check the Storytime calendar for more information.

How to Register
Parents/caregivers may register online during the specified registration period.Each child can participate in one registered program per session. Registration is a lottery. Register your infants and 1-year-olds based on their ability to walk. Register children ages 2 and up based on their age. Registered storytimes are for children whose parents are Darien residents, employed full-time in Darien, or Friends of Darien Library who contribute annually at the $300 level. Parents will need a Library card to register.

Early Literacy Texts
Sign up for our weekly early literacy texts to get easy tips sent right to your phone! It’s totally free (though standard messaging rates apply), and is a service of Darien Library. Your librarians will send a text every Monday with something simple you can integrate into your daily life that will help prepare your child (under 5-years-old) for reading and writing. Born to Read
Walkers (up to 24 months) and a parent/caregiver. This fast-paced storytime for lively toddlers includes books, songs, fingerplays, and movement.
Tuesdays 9:30 to 10 a.m. OR Wednesdays 10:30 to 11 a.m.
Creative Music for Children
Walkers (up to 3 years old ) with a parent/caregiver. Miss Debbie will engage children through music and instrument play.
Fridays 10:30 to 11 a.m. OR Fridays 11:15 to 11:45 a.m.
Side by Side
2-year-olds and 3-year-olds with a parent/caregiver. This introduction to storytime features books, rhymes, and movement activities.
Mondays 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. OR Thursdays 11:15 to 11:45 a.m.
All Together Now
0-5 years old and a parent/caregiver. Bring all your kids to sit together at this sibling storytime.

Libros y Cuentos
3-year-olds to 5-year-olds and a parent/caregiver. This bilingual storytime introduces children to Spanish vocabulary, books, rhymes, and songs.
Tuesdays 1:30 to 2 p.m.
Young Yogis
3-year-olds to 5-year-olds. Relax.Refresh.Regroup. Your little Yoginis will be introduced to Yoga movement and a story.
Mondays 1:30 to 2 p.m.
STEAM Storytime
4-year-olds to 5-year-olds. Join us for stories, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) concepts, and hands-on activities.
