New Canaan Police Chief: ‘Carelessness Is Putting Our Entire Town at Risk’
From article Tuesday in NewCanaanite.com:
“So far this year, police have investigated 20 stolen vehicles and 32 thefts from vehicles in New Canaan, he said in a press release.
“’We urge our residents to be more cautious and practice good crime prevention strategies,” [Police Chief Leon Krolikowski] said. ‘This carelessness is putting our entire town at risk.’”
Krolikowski re-issued a list of recommendations to residents that went beyond locking up and not keeping keys or fobs in cars. He said that it’s become less expensive in recent years to have security cameras and (activated by motion detectors) lighting around your home. He also reminded residents to activate alarm systems whenever they leave home.
