State Rep. Terrie Wood announced that she’s holding a “business informational forum” from 8 to 9 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29 at The Goose American Bistro & Bar, 972 Post Road in downtown Darien. You don’t have to be involved in a business to come, Wood says — the event is open to everybody. Wood, a Republican whose district includes Rowayton and most of Darien, and a Norwalk state representative held a similar event last Tuesday at Norwalk City Hall. Here’s most of Wood’s description the event in her constituent newsletter Thursday morning:

The 2019 legislative session is proving to be one of most impactful times on the state’s business community in recent years, especially considering the new Democrat-enacted taxes that went into effect Oct.

Public Hearing on State Toll Proposals Starts at 11 AM in Hartford on Wednesday

On Wednesday, March 6, the state Legislature’s Joint Transportation Committee will hold a public hearing on two bills concerning tolls: H.B. 7202, the governor’s bill, and H.B. 7280, a bill introduced by the legislative majority, state Rep. Terrie Wood said Tuesday in an email to constituents. From Wood’s announcement:

The hearing begins at 11 a.m. in room 1E of the Legislative Office Building (LOB). The sign up to speak (testify) starts at 10 a.m. and runs to 12 noon in the lobby of the Legislative Office Building (LOB). Public officials are typically allowed the first hour to testify and then on an alternating basis with the public thereafter. You will also need to submit testimony online atTRAtestimony@cga.ct.gov. Spoken testimony must be three minutes or less.

Public Hearing on Forced School Regionalization This Friday, March 1 in Hartford

State Rep. Terrie Wood, announced in an email to constituents on Monday that the Legislature’s joint Education Committee will hold a public hearing in Hartford on forced school regionalization. Wood, a Republican representing the 141st District, covering most of Darien and all of Rowayton, gave advice for anyone wanting to submit written testimony or to speak at the hearing. The Connecticut Municipal Resource and Service Center of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities recently issued a report describing Gov. Ned Lamont’s proposed state budget. It includes this description of the governor’s proposed policy for school regionalization:

The Governor would establish COSSS to develop a plan, in consultation with ACIR, for the redistricting or consolidation of school services and school districts. It would begin work 30 days after passage of the legislation and conclude on June 30, 2027.
