New Parking Payment Machines Coming to Talmadge Hill Train Station

New Canaan town officials on Tuesday voted in favor of spending $50,000 on two contracts with a Moorestown, N.J.-based company for new parking payment machines. ____________

The Parkeon machines—two for the Talmadge Hill Train Station lot ($19,790 total) and three for the Elm Street lot downtown ($29,440)—collect money that then goes into standalone parking funds. Specifically, Parking Superintendent Stacy Miltenberg told members of the Board of Selectmen at their regular meeting, funds collected at Elm Street go into a state “Railroad Fund” that’s used maintain the 2.7-acre state-owned property around the tracks. Talmadge Hill is owned by the town, and revenues collected there go into a town parking fund, she said in response to a question posed by Selectman Kit Devereaux.

New Canaan Line Buses to Substitute for Trains Late Fridays & Weekends

Buses will be substituted for trains for late night service on Friday nights and all Saturdays and Sundays on April 28 to May 1 and from May 5 through May 7. Switching to buses will allow Metro-North crews to do further work on the tracks, the rail service announced. Service to and from all four stations on the branch will be affected: Glenbrook, Springdale, Talmadge Hill and New Canaan stations. These are the weekends that buses will substitute for trains. They’ll be leaving 20 minutes earlier than the trains are scheduled to leave:

March 24, 25 & 26
April 21, 22 & 23
April 28, 29 & 30
May 5, 6 & 7
