Year-Long Project on Merritt Parkway in Greenwich to Close Lanes Sometimes on Weeknights, Weekends

For almost the next year, a stretch of the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich will have a new concrete barrier and construction vehicles entering and leaving at any time. There will be some lane closures overnight on the northbound-traffic side of the highway, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The project isn’t scheduled to be completed until Nov. 27, 2018. The purpose of the project is to install a new drainage pipe under the Merritt to increase the flow capacity of Horseneck Brook to the Putnam Lake reservoir. The construction will take place between Interchanges 29 and 31.

As Darienite.com reported on Friday, a project in Stamford between Exits 8 and 9 will cause lane closures on both the northbound- and southbound-traffic sides of the highway, but the state Department of Transportation is now saying that work will close lanes anywhere from Exit 8 in Stamford to Exit 10 in Darien in connection with bridge maintenance and inspections. In addition to paving the Post Road through Darien, workers making improvements on state roadways will cause traffic restrictions at these places in upcoming days, according to the state Department of Transportation:

In Greenwich on the Merritt Parkway there will be alternating right and left lane closures on both the northbound- and southbound-traffic sides of the two-lane parkway between Exits 29 and 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 3 and 4, the DOT announced. In another project, drivers traveling northbound on the Merritt Parkway and using entrance and exit ramps for Exit 41 and 42 in Westport and Fairfield can expect off-and-on nighttime ramp closures after 12 midnight, starting Monday,  Oct. 2 through Friday of the following week (Oct. 13).

Nighttime Lane Closures on I-95 in and Around Exits 4 and 5 Start Monday

If you’re driving later at night on Interstate 95 near Exit 4 and Exit 5 in Greenwich, expect delays from Monday, Sept. 18 through Friday morning, Sept. 29, as a project takes place to maintain the bridge there. The work on the Riverside Avenue underpass will be done from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Mondays through Fridays, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation. Lanes on both the northbound- and southbound-traffic sides of the highway will be subject to closures.

Expect Nighttime Lane Closures on I-95 in Greenwich This Weekend, May 20 to 22

Some drivers on Interstate 95 in Greenwich this weekend could face delays as two lanes of traffic are closed for a drainage repair project, the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced. The work will only close northbound traffic lanes on the highway. It is scheduled for two nights — from 8 p.m., Saturday to 8 a.m., Sunday, May 20 to 21, and again from 8 p.m., Sunday to 5 a.m., Monday, May 22. The drainage repairs will be performed by F.S.M. Services, Inc.

“Motorists can expect the left two lanes closed on Interstate 95 northbound between Exit 4 (Indian Field Road) and Exit 6 (Harvard Avenue) in Greenwich,” ConnDOT announced Wednesday.  “Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

Various Projects to Close I-95 Lanes, Sunday to Wednesday, from Greenwich to Norwalk

Expect delays from various projects that will close lanes on Interstate 95 from early Sunday morning through Wednesday. Here’s a rundown:
Norwalk & Westport, Sunday

Some northbound traffic lanes on I-95 will be closed from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26 between Exit 14 in Norwalk and Exit 17 in Westport for “an illumination repair project,” the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced late last week. “Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.” The announcement continued: “Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.”
