Darien Music Students Named to All-State Bands, Chorus

Five Darien High School students were named to either the Connecticut All State Band or Chorus, and seven elementary school students from Darien were chosen to participate in the Elementary All-State Honors Chorus, the public schools Music Department announced. Here are the announcements:
High School
Five outstanding musicians from Darien High School were chosen through a highly competitive state-wide audition process and participated in the Connecticut Music Educators Association 2019 All-State Music Festival. John Fallon, a percussionist, participated in the All-State Band and Amina Mobarik, Caleigh O’Connor, Juliette Kiernan and Eleanor Chase participated in the All-State Chorus. The rehearsals and the concerts for the festival took place at Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford on April 11 to 13 in conjunction with the state-wide CMEA conference. The Darien students had the privilege of working in musical ensembles with Connecticut’s most accomplished high school musicians conducted by nationally renowned conductors and educators.

DHS Band Performs in Nashville; Young Composers Concert Performed at High School

The Darien High School Band took a trip to Nashville several weeks ago to perform, attend a master class and visit some sites important in American musical history. Shortly afterward, back at the high school, students from all grades presented their music at the 19th annual Young Composers Concert. — announcements from Darien Public Schools Music Department

The Darien High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Jonathan Grauer, traveled to Nashville on April 4 to 7. The Band students participated in a musical exchange with students at Cane Ridge High School. Each school band performed for each other and then performed a combined selection.

Darien Public Schools Music Department Announces Holiday Concerts Schedule

The Darien Public School Music Department announced its schedule of upcoming holiday winter concert programs.  All take place in December. The concerts will feature nearly 2,000 Band, Chorus, and Orchestra students performing in 10 concert programs throughout the district. There is no charge for any of our winter concerts. The schedule of concerts is as follows:

Darien Students Can Get Tickets to Stamford Symphony’s Leonard Bernstein Concert for $10
