A 35-year-old woman, dropping off a child to a man working at a Post Road business, got into a heated argument with the man, resulting in her arrest for disorderly conduct and violating a no-contact restraining order, Darien police said. The woman had called the man to arrange dropping off the child at Darien Upholstery, 903 Post Road, and came by at about the arranged time, 12:15 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20. While there, an argument with the man, who called a relative to join them and try to calm her down and get her to leave. The relative began video recording the woman with his cell phone.

Pedro Oristanio, 29, of Darien unsuccessfully tried to abduct a woman described as his ex-girlfriend in Stratford on Tuesday night, and when that idea somehow failed, he set fire to the woman’s car, parked near the woman’s home, Stratford Police said. Police detectives went to the scene and determined that Oristanio might be headed to one of three locations out of town, one of them in New Canaan, where police picked him up, police said. He was taken to Stratford Police Headquarters, where he was charged with attempted kidnapping, unlawful restraint, second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree threatening, police said. One family member’s concern that another family member was taking drugs led to her grabbing his wallet from his pants pocket, which led to a tussle as he objected — then a turn of events that she didn’t seem to expect led to the man’s arrest on other charges, police said. The Incident Last Week

The woman, a resident of Walmsley Road, ran out of the house and brought the wallet to the Darien police station — where police decided that the fresh cuts on her indicated that an assault had taken place. So they went back to the house, questioned the man — Scott Waters, 23 — and charged him with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault, both misdemeanors. The incident began sometime before 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, when the woman arrived at Darien Police Headquarters. She told police she had left the house with the wallet and went directly to the police station.

Darien police say they received a number of complaints from neighbors about yelling and screaming coming from a home on Lynn Court on Saturday, and after police looked into it, they charged three people with disorderly conduct, one with assault.

At 12:26 a.m., police responded to the complaints. When a man answered the door, police could hear yelling from inside the house. When police spoke with three adults in the house, they were told an argument had escalated between the women into a shoving match and the throwing of a laundry basket back and forth. When a man tried to stop the fighting, he punched one of the women in the arm several times when, instead of making peace, he got angry himself. No one was seriously injured, although police saw red marks on at least one of the women.

Woman, 21, Tells Police a 52-Year-Old Woman in the Home Slapped Her

A 52-year-old woman on Hillside Avenue was charged with disorderly conduct and given a misdemeanor summons after a 21-year-old woman in the house told police the older woman slapped her across the face. The two were having an argument at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, about the older woman not being invited to Easter dinner at the house of the grandmother of the younger woman. The younger woman also said the older one was trying to take away her cell phone. The older woman confirmed what the younger woman said about the subject of the argument but denied that she’d slapped the younger woman. Police said the younger woman had some redness on the left side of her face, around her cheek.

Darien police charged a boyfriend and girlfriend, both 32 years old, after police said the pair damaged property at The Heights in Darien during a domestic dispute that spilled outdoors. Darien police described the incident with this account (including accusations not proven in court):

Police were called to Allen O’Neill Drive at 12:25 a.m. on Friday, March 26 on a report of a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, they saw the man and woman yelling at each other, with the woman trying to stop the man from leaving in his vehicle. The man was walking on the street, followed by his son, 4 or 5 years old. He told police the argument began over his girlfriend leaving the boy, who is not related to her, with a neighbor.
